Wow: Dragonflight…so far

Update: I didn’t find this out until I was leveling my Druid, but her Alchemy skill has different quality levels. It’s not as involved as the system in Dragonflight, but at least it’s s start. I do hope that they add more depth to not only the older expansions but to the game as a whole.

After having played Dragonflight to level 67 and the Ohn’ahran Plains, I can honestly say that the game is better. They took some of the best features from games like FFXIV, GW2, and ESO and added them to the world of Azeroth.

Professions are VERY much improved and make more sense in the grand scheme of the game. I would say though that they need to add the new system to the rest of the game and world. I think they missed a chance at bringing in new players, especially those of us who look to the professions system of a game as a priority in choosing to play or not. The main storyline, so far, has more continuity. Questlines are less grindy, though there is grind. They actually added cinematics that help explain and continue the storyline. They do make me, as a player, feel like I am getting more of the story. Now, having come back from FFXIV, this storyline isn’t on the level of the awesomeness that is the MSQ of that game. Still, I will say when it comes to how the WOW storyline was a recon’d, confusing, horrible mess (of which most of it happened in books instead of ingame) in the past, the current Dragonflight storyline–makes sense, there are clear reasons and stakes going on, and we are getting more cinematics true. At first, Dragon flying was a bit annoying. I still think that they nerfed it a little too much, but once I gathered all of the glyphs, I must say that I enjoyed the mechanics better. Also, I’m glad that for Dracthyr Evokers, gathering glyphs and unlocking skills and buffs for Dragonflying effects Dracthyr flying. I will still say though that a Dragonoid/Dragonborn race with wings with strafing damaging skills should be able to have flight as an innate skill. The community is still the community…there are still many toxic people ingame, but I have noticed that there has been much less complaining in general chat.

I will say that for those former WoW players who were thinking a giving the game a try again…especially my fellow professions lovers, I’d say give the game a try. I’ll be sure to give my final thoughts on the main storyline once I’ve completed it, but until then, let me know what you think. If you are playing Dragonflight, what do you think about it? Please share in the comments.
