WOW Dragonflight: First Post

From Launch Day to present…

  • I wait close to an hour to log in, so to avoid the launch day drama, but I guess I didn’t wait long enough, because I was able to log in ok and get to the quest location (Stormwind Harbor) ok, but while waiting for the boat to come to pick us all up, there was a portal that could take you straight to the Dragon Isles, which was bugged, and the boat to the Dragon Isles wouldn’t stop in order for people to get on. That’s a problem on launch day.
  • Now, I’ve been present for expansion releases for FFXIV, ESO, and even Star Trek: Field Commander, a mobile, and all of those released with little to no issues on the whole, but for some reason Blizzard always has issues with expansion releases. I thought they’d changed that, but I guess I was wrong.
  • I chose to start playing with my Human Paladin because she is the main toon that I’ve played the game with from Vanilla, all the way through to Dragonflight launch.
  • Upon getting to the Dragon Isles, I am immediately given a quest to gain renown with the Dragonscale Expedition, and my beginner quests in Dragonflight.
  • I must say I really like that when I die, I have a ride back to my body. It really cuts down on time trying to find out where you died and getting back to the action.
  • I also like that, at least on Dragon Isles, I am getting quests from both Alliance and Horde NPCs.
  • On the second day, I decided to give my Dracthyr a try to see if the story of Dragonflight would change between playing a Dracthyr and playing a character new to the Isles. So far, the story is the same.
  • Why would lava hurt a Dragon? Dragons literally breathe fire that can melt off the flesh, and they have some of the dragons on the Dragon Isles bathing in lava. Makes no sense.
  • I am feeling a bit overwhelmed when it comes to how I am to progress through the Dragon Isles. Because there is a lot of “go here and do this”, I’ve decided that I am going to stay in each area and do quests to get a handle on what is expected of me as a player.
  • As a Dracthyr, I am basically a Dragonborn (for those who play D&D), with the difference being that I actually have skills and spells that require my character to hover, fly and strafe a target. Why don’t I have dragon flying as an innate ability? It bothered me through the Pre-patch event, and it still bothers me now.
  • After switching back to my Pally, fighting feels ok, but I constantly feel like I am undergeared.
  • Professions are ok so far, but where I am currently located (Ruby Life Pools), there aren’t a lot of mining veins to tap…at least I haven’t seen them, and as a Blacksmith, I’ve definitely been looking.

There will be more to come soon…
