A few thoughts about the Houston Band-Maid Concert

I gotta say, I had a ball at the concert. I just thought I knew that Band-Maid is an awesome band live, but it really wasn’t until I actually got to see them live in Houston, TX this past weekend that I found out just how good and entertaining they are live. Before I continue, let me say that the venue and the Foundation Lounge at the House of Blues in Houston, TX were amazing and I really had a great time getting to talk with fellow Maidiacs, and with some Youtube reactors I met at the show.

I knew that they had no opening act, and I gotta say, they don’t really need one. From the time the lights went out at start the concert until the lights came up at the end, I was completely mesmerized by the ladies on stage playing their asses off for our entertainment. I loved everything about this concert. I was so happy when they played “Alone”, one of the songs I consider my fave for personal reasons, followed by “Onset”, which all Maidiacs (fans of Band-Maid) jokingly and lovingly call Saiki’s (the lead singer) pee break song. I say that “Alone” is my favorite, but really, this band has no bad songs. Whether it’s their title singles or their B-Sides, this band DOES NOT MISS, when it comes to musical excellence. If you get a chance, check out the videos below.

The intermissions with the members of the group taking a break to talk with the audience and teach them words in Japanese was funny and endearing, and it really gave the crowd (some in attendance who were new to the group) a chance to get to know the personalities of each member of this five-woman band, and how they interact with each other. We as fans can definitely tell that they truly have fun together, and it makes them feel more down-to-earth and really endears them to their audience. The electricity of the night was palpable. The audience in attendance was having such a good time that when the band announced that they would be playing their last song, Domination, the crowd responded with a resounding “NOOOOOO!!!” It was truly a magical night, and as we all left the venue, you could still feel happy, energetic energy in the air. Definitely, definitely, DEFINITELY, if you get a chance to go see them live, I CANNOT express enough how much I highly recommend you do so.
