Former Blizzard employee leaves after alleged racism and discrimination
Former member of Blizzard’s Hearthstone Esport team, Jules Murillo-Cueller has filed a federal complaint with the EEOC (Equal Employment Opportunity Commission), after he was forced to leave due to alleged years of abuse from fellow co-workers, with little or no aid from superiors.
During his five-year tenure with the company, Murillo-Cueller writes that he was constantly harassed and discriminated against because of what one co-worker joked as his perceived “male machismo”, because of his Mexican descent. Murillo-Cueller continues to say that when he went to his supervisors to complain about the treatment that included being left of key internal meetings and calls about the Esports league, he was told to not worry about it, and just let it go, while the supervisor deals with the issues; but the issues continued. Murillo-Cueller said that the abuse got so bad that he would suffer regular panic attacks, nervous breakdowns, and depression to the point that in his eventually attempted suicide in December of 2017. Murillo-Culler eventually left the Blizzard in April 2018 to work for Psyonix, before starting his own firm, Muri Entertainment.
Murillo-Culler says that he decided to come forward, because of the announcement that Overwatch’s Soldier 76 is gay, because though Blizzard wants to put forth this idea that they are all about inclusion and representation of diversity, he and other members of the company who are people of color that he’s spoken to wondered are they really being represented. Only time will tell what will come of the complaint, but this telling of how at least one employee was treated while working for Blizzard adds the growing list of negative attention the company has been receiving of late, and unfortunately, there seems to be no end in sight.
Billy Gunn signed with AEW Wrestling and Omega is suspected to follow suit
During the meet and greet after yesterday’s AEW Wrestling Rally at TIAA Bank Field, Cody Rhodes confirmed that long-time wrestler, Billy Gunn will be a producer for the fledgling promotion. Gunn, who has been a wrestler since the early 80s has a wealth of wrestling knowledge under his belt. Gunn is a solid hire, and it shows that the folks at AEW aren’t playing when they say they want to “Change the World” of Professional Wrestling.
Also, as of this writing, there is a rumor that Kenny Omega, who is one of the best wrestlers of this generation is expected to sign with the fledgling promotion as well. Though he is a founding member of the Elite, Omega has also gotten big offers from both NJPW and the WWE. According to the Pro Wrestling historian and God of rankings, Dave Meltzer, it seems that Omega will be following the rest of his Elite buddies and join AEW Wrestling on his platform to “Change the World” of pro wrestling. Though nothing will be official until Kenny’s contract with New Japan ends at the end of January, it looks as if it is a foregone conclusion that AEW will be adding another great wrestler to their ranks soon.
Rumors of a new Elder Scrolls expansion hit the web
Information has been datamined by UESPWiki that seems to show the new location us ESO players will be exploring is Elsweyr, the land of the Khajits. Also, there is news that a new class, the Necromancer was mined, as well an addition of Dragons as a new enemy that the denizens of Tamriel will have to band together to face. Though nothing official will be announced until the January 15th Twitch stream by Bethesda, it seems nothing can stop the data miners from attempting to get the scoop.
