UPDATE: The AEW Wrestling Rally at TIAA Stadium in Jacksonville, FL
The Rally for AEW Wrestling has just ended, and there were quite a few surprises that the crowd popped loudly for and some announcements that were long rumored. Here are a few highlights.
- SCU (SoCal Uncensored) came out on stage to officially announce that they have signed with All Elite Wrestling
- During his speech on stage, Cody made sure to emphasize that for AEW wins and losses matter more, then them telling the audience who they should or shouldn’t like. Hopefully, more information will be released about this soon.
- Chinese promotion, OWE (Oriental Wrestling Entertainment) have partnered with AEW Wrestling, as was announced by Matt Jackson, while he was onstage.
- May 25th is the date, and MGM Grand Las Vegas is the place for the Double or Nothing PPV (pay-per-view), which is the sequel/successor to ALL IN
- Joey Janela and Penelope came on stage to beat down a heel named Maxwell Jacob Freedman to announce that they are both with All Elite Wrestling
- While Hangman Page was out on stage to announce that he will be the first AEW champion, Pac (who many WWE fans may know as Neville) walked out on stage with his Dragon Gate championship to challenge Page to a match to the delight of all in attendance
- After all that excitement calmed, Cody came back out on stage to announce that AEW Wrestling will be having a second event in Jacksonville, FL with much of the proceeds going to a charity combating gun violence
- At the end of the event, Chris Jericho who had an amazing 2018, came out on stage to announce that he also is joining AEW Wrestling
Bautista has joined the cast of the Dune remake
One of my favorite actors/wrestlers of all time, Dave Bautista has been added to the cast of Dune, as Rabban Harkonnen. As a long-time Dune fan (having read the books, and seen the movies), and having seen Bautista play a monster heel and a badass tweener during his time in the WWE, and having seen him in his recent movies, I think he will make a wonderful Rabban the Beast. Though I was skeptical about this remake in the past, the cast for me just scored another solid actor. Time will only tell though if this film actually gets made.
PlayStation 4 sales pass 91million
Within the last twelve months, Sony and the PS4 have sold over 18million units, which is impressive, considering it is, as some have rumored, nearly the end of its life cycle. On the popularity of games such as the Sony exclusive Marvel’s Spiderman, the system sold nearly six million during the Christmas shopping season alone. Also, active users of the PSN have risen to over 90 million at the end of year numbers as well. It looks like Sony had an amazing year last year. Here’s to hoping that they continue the trend in 2019.
