So, I only really have one problem with this first episode. The problem I have is why didn’t they release the first and second episode at the same time? I mean those that got to go to the preview screening in Tokyo, Seoul and LA got to see the first two episodes. Why couldn’t the rest of us get the first two episodes released?
But I digress….
I really love how the episode started off with a bit of backstory showing the first Jeju Raid–something that manhwa reader only really read about as a history. I thought it was really cool that they used the first Jeju Raid to introduce the Choi and White Tiger Leader Yoonho and Byung-Gyu. Cha Hae-in got the heroic introduction that she deserves, but doesn’t want as usual. I also really like that interspersed between the fights in the dungeon, they introduced Gunhee and Jinchul explaining the world and why the world’s governments put up with the Hunters and aid in taking out dungeons beside just protecting lives…it’s about money and power as always.
A-1 Studios has done an amazing job so far of adapting the look and feel of the manhwa to screen. This anime looks like they pulled the pictures off the page and gave them motion.
