After watching VICE’s Dark Side of the Ring about the Plane Ride from Hell, it’s apparent that Dreamer deserves the suspension he got. Also, it’s apparent that no matter how much I respect his wrestling career in the ring, Ric Flair should have taken the hit for what he did on this plane. Saying that he was a “made man” in the business is what was wrong with the industry, and is one of main reasons that the “Me Too” movement in pro wrestling was so important. Frankly, this is disgusting. Honestly, at least some of these wrestlers are complete garbage people outside the ring. Personally, I can’t excuse them, because it seems many of them were on drugs and alcohol when it happened, because all drugs and alcohol only gave these people excuses for the after effects of their actions.
Having said that, it sounds to me like Vince just uses his underlings (Jim Ross in this case) as the scapegoats for when bad things happen. He doesn’t want to take any repercussions or have to deal with any negativity when it comes. The thing is at the end of the day, the buck stops with him. He, as the owner of that plane (because he paid for the charter) and the owner of the company could have and should have stopped most if not all of what was happening on that plane. That’s what an actual owner is supposed to be and do. Instead, he just sat in the front of the plane like a sniveling, cowardly piece of shit and just let “the boys be boys.” I don’t see how anyone can support the WWE after watching this. Even if 50% of this is true, and knowing that Vince didn’t do anything to stop it while it was happening should tell people what he thinks of his talent and his company.
