Since the earliest days of Warcraft, fans and players of the game have been told to be ever-ready for the return of the Burning Legion. During the more than ten year run of the World of Warcraft, we players have been constantly warned about the imminent return of Sargeras and the Burning Legion. Now that the return of the Legion has happened, and we are preparing for the final fight against the leader of the Burning Legion and his minions, I was wondering, “What should happen after Legion, and how should the world of Azeroth change?”
Now, by change what I mean is this. Through all the different expansions, the developers of WoW have given their best efforts to constantly improve on the graphics and mechanics of the game. That being said, we as WoW players are still essentially playing off of the same client that was released with the original game. Also, from a lore standpoint, until last year’s WoW Chronicle anthology, the Burning Legion was the “big bad” of the WoW universe. After having read the first Chronicle in the series, and learning that the Legion themselves were fighting (in their own twisted way) against an even greater evil in the Void Lords and their minions, the Old Gods; it seems to me that along with the next chapter in this game series, a new look and system should be implemented.
As a long time WoW player, I’d love to see the devs of the game go all out with this next expansion. It’s the first expansion potentially after the defeat of the Legion. I think it would be so awesome if the devs decided that with a new big bad, a new client should be created. Because seemingly there won’t be a WoW 2.0 anytime soon, implementing a new client complete with updated graphics, more options for gameplay styles (point and click, action style, etc.), abilities to change the leveling system so that the whole world levels with you, so that the story and lore is showcased better and some other improvements that I’m sure they may have been wanting to implement, but because of the current client weren’t quite able to achieve. Personally, I would love to see how the world of Azeroth, and the other possible planets that we may visit, would look with updated graphics on a new client. I think it has the potential to look mind-blowing. It would definitely bring back many players that left because the game was becoming too aged in gameplay style and looks for their preferences.
Also, a new client would give developers a chance to update or change the current PVP system into something that is more enjoyable to a wider audience, and make it a feature that is cherished, instead of something that a lot of current players only partake in, when it is either forced on them, or when it is necessary to achieve an item. Honestly, if the devs created a PVP system for WoW that resembled SWTOR or Guild Wars systems, I think many would love it.
At the end of the day, we as WoW players are coming to an end of an era. We are going to finally face the leader of the Burning Legion in mortal combat. Knowing the developers of WoW, I think they will send him out in fine fashion. I just hope that after the Legion is sent off, we as players are graced with a new awesome that will blow our minds, and have us anticipating the next expansion with renewed fervor.
With the changes the 7.3 are going to release, I am honestly excited. But, maybe I am more excited because I play the feral and the release of this means to me a revamp on my feral. None the less, I must follow this story line to the end.
Same. I must see my ret pally’s journey to the end. I am loving my druid though. Though I am a feral cat, I recently have mostly been healing on her. She’s loads of fun either way. I’m an altoholic, so I am currently trying to get the class mounts on some of them.
