So I came across one of my past rants, and it seems to be as relevant today as it was back then, so I thought I’d post it here. It’s my opinion, so take it as such.

Ok people…it seems that FB is falling into the crapper on many issues, so what I want to say is this.
God (by whatever name you personally are called to worship him/her) gave us this amazingly simple, yet complex thing called free will. Free will allows us as humans an amazing choice in this life. That choice is either the path of good or the path of evil. At the end of the day, this choice is ours and ours alone, because when it comes time for that last big court case, you and you alone are going to be judged on your actions alone. You won’t be judged on what someone else does with their lives, but what you do with yours.
If you decide to live a life of hate, judging others and griefing, that is at the end of it all YOUR choice. YOU and you alone will have the big guy upstairs (this is me coming from a Catholic view on religious life; so please think of it in terms of what religion you have been called to, or have chosen to follow) to answer to for YOUR decisions and actions. Like the Dali Lama says (and I am completely paraphrasing here), Religion is supposed to be used as a guide for YOUR life, not to force on others.
If you choose to be a sheep and follow the status quo, instead of doing some research, and gaining knowledge on a situation or subject either through personal interaction, or becoming informed from all sides, before postulating your own educated opinion; that is totally up to you, because at the end of the day YOU have to answer for that decision. When the time comes, the big guy isn’t gonna take into consideration that you were just following the crowd, because at the end of it all, the decision to follow the crowd was YOURS.
If you decide to be an accepting person—to try to be the best person you can be, to try your best to live by the Golden Rule, and to treat others as you want to be treated, and to try and be a force for good in your personal lives, and eventually in the world as a whole (because one pebble can spark an endless amount of ripples if given the chance); then at the end of the day that is entirely YOUR CHOICE.
At the end of the day, the choice of what type of path we are going to take in our lives is inevitably our own, and no one else’s…that’s what Free Will is and why it’s an amazingly God-given gift. God gave us enough rope to either save ourselves or hang ourselves, and the decision is completely up to us. The question is do you choose the path of good, or do you choose the path of evil, because at the end of the day, YOU and YOU ALONE have to answer for it.
