Former Blizzard CFO Amrita Ahuja has been lured away to payment solutions firm Square Inc. Over her eight years with Blizzard, Ahuja has held many roles with the company, including vice president of strategy and business development. There are some players within especially the WoW community who think that it was the financial mandate given to her by the higher-ups of Activision that has caused the slow decline of the quality of games and gameplay over at the former big dog in the gaming industry. This gamer wonders how this will affect creativity going forward from the developer.

Developer Second Dinner to create new Marvel game

Former Blizzard developers Ben Brode and Hamilton Chu announced yesterday that they have partnered with Chinese publisher NetEase and Marvel to create a new game in the Marvel universe. After having worked on the Marvel game for six months and along with their history within Blizzard, Brode and Chu were able to show a proven track record to NetEase that garnered them a $30 million investment from the publisher. Right now, within the Blizzard gaming community, NetEase leaves a bit of bad taste in the mouth, but I’m personally hoping that this game comes out and does well for PC and consoles.
