Level Scaling in Patch 7.3.5
Level 1-10
Blizzard recently asked players to test out the new level scaling feature for Old World WoW, so that they can have some feedback. Since this is one of the features that I am most excited about for the next patch, I thought that I would help out. So far, I have been pleasantly surprised with what I’ve found.
I decided that I would level a hunter during the testing, so I created a human hunter named Tesbow and logged in to play. The first thing I noticed is that everyone, Veterans and New players alike were on the same level playing field in Northshire Abbey because heirloom armor and weapons aren’t unlocked until level 10. I actually like this, because it forces all new characters on a level, balanced footing, as they step into this world in terms of lore and roleplay. Though the first few quests were as easy as they usually have been, with enemies being defeated in a couple hits, I just felt as if it was something new.
Though I did gain a few skills, the only true active skill I had was Cobra Shot. Now for many of us vets, we know that as a Beast Mastery Hunter this skill will be your only active skill, other than controlling your pets, it was good to get that down early. I do hope that they add a couple more skill options for the Beast Mastery Hunter in the future.
I leveled to level ten within a similar time to before the addition of level scaling in the Eastvale Logging Camp area, and I can say that once I got to that area, I did feel a bit more of a challenge fighting murlocs. The time leveling went smoothly, and as a decade-plus vet of the game, I didn’t feel at all bored, though it was the typical grind involved.
All in all, I really enjoyed leveling from one to ten, though I did suggest that some of the spawn timers be sped up a bit. I can’t wait to continue my journey into essentially beta testing the improved leveling system through the other areas of the game. Stay tuned…
